Hi! My name is Tom Meijer and I live in the Netherlands. I use my background in biology and science in general to come up with pieces that originate from biological and scientific subjects. The light sculptures look and feel like (parts of) living entitites. From time to time I make these creatures ´come to life´ during live sessions.

 

The light sculptures are apppealing to me because they transmit sereness. They have a mystical appearance that comes from the way the light is diffused through ´the skin´ of the sculptures. The structure of the pieces could best be described as organic, voluminous and often symmetrical. The pieces are made using the same ancient techniques and materials found in oriental lanterns.
